Josie Daxter lives in London and works internationally in theatre and opera as a director and movement director. She recently directed 'The Rake's Progress' in collaboration with Barbara Hannigan. She directed 'Much Ado About Nothing' at the National Youth Theatre and 'What do You See?' as Associate Artist at The PappyShow. She assisted on Romeo Castellucci's 'Requiem' in Aix-en-Provence and directed revivals of the play at the Adelaide Festival, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia, Wiener Festwochen, La Monnaie in Brussels and Teatro di San Carlo in Naples. Between 2013 and 2020, she was movement director and revival director of Simon McBurney's 'Magic Flute' at De Nederlandse Opera, English National Opera, the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence and Theater Basel. She was involved in McBurney's 'A Dog's Heart' at English National Opera, La Scala Milan and the Opéra National de Lyon and conducted its revival at De Nederlandse Opera. She also assisted with McBurney's 'The Rake's Progress' in Aix-en-Provence, Amsterdam and Moscow. She was movement director on 'The Monstrous Child' at the Royal Opera House in London and assistant director on '101 Dalmatians' at Regent's Park Theatre. Her theatre credits include 'The Master and Margarita' by Complicité, 'A Woman Killed with Kindness', 'The Trial of Ubu' by Katie Mitchell and 'Frankenstein' by Danny Boyle.
